Lidl has won the top award at the recent IITD National Training Awards 2015, beating high-profile companies such as DHL, Keelings, Concern and Jury’s Inn.
Lidl was also recognised with awards in two individual categories; Best Graduate Programme and Best Learning and Development in a Large Organisation.
Speaking about the awards, Lidl’s Learning and Development Manager Cathy Behan said, “We were ecstatic to win two individual awards on the night, but the icing on the cake was to win the overall award for Best Learning and Development Organisation. It's a huge endorsement of the work done by Lidl's HR team in nurturing the talent we have in the business and investing in the future.”
IITD CEO Sinead Heneghan praised Lidl’s successful training initiatives, adding, “The company stood out too, for having an innovative blended learning approach; empowering line managers, and showing that focused, clear values underpin all its programmes.”
Award entries were judged on a range of criteria including the level of resources and investment in development, innovation in how training is delivered, the sustainability of learning initiatives, programme design, and the evaluation of outcomes from training activity.
