Lidl appears to be on track to expand its Thomas Street store in the Liberties neighbourhood in Dublin, having bought the freehold interest of its own building, as well as two adjoining units currently rented by Spar and Eurogiant.
According to IrishTimes.com, Lidl paid over €6 million for the three ground-floor premises, which produce a rent roll of approximately €480,000 – of which Lidl accounted for 60%.
Coldwell Banker Commercial’s Colm Lundy, who handled the sale, told IrishTimes.com that there had been several bidders.
He added that the deal felt “a bit déjà vu” to him, because he negotiated the original lease for Lidl several years ago as the German retailer's property manager.
