Mace stores all around Ireland will be holding a fundraising day on Friday 22 November, to raise money for the company’s official charity partner, Debra.
On Friday, the retailer will donate €1 from every sale of tea and coffee to the national charity supporting people affected by epidermolysis bullosa (EB).
The condition, often referred to as ‘butterfly skin’ is a debilitating, excruciating and relentless disease with no known cure.
Mace’s network of community retailers chose Debra as its charity partner until 2026, and this coffee morning is just its latest show of support.
Mace retailers recently took part in the Mace ‘Run to 40’ initiative, by either walking 40,000 steps or running 40 kilometres (individually or with a team), in support of Debra’s patient ambassador and board member Emma Fogarty.
Fogarty celebrated her 40th birthday by completing the last four kilometres of the Dublin Marathon alongside her friend and actor Colin Farrell, who ran the full course.
Mace also supports Debra through fundraising in store and donations from selected Mace own-brand products.
The Butterfly Charity
To help promote this latest initiative, the retailer has employed the services of talented artist Giulia Bernardelli, who specialises in creating coffee art.
Bernardelli has created a special community image exclusively for Mace, incorporating a butterfly – the symbol of Debra, which is also known as the ‘butterfly charity’.
Speaking about this latest fundraising initiative, Mace sales director Keith Crawford said, “It is wonderful to see so many of our Mace stores sign up for the coffee day.
“Mace retailers are very proud to work with Debra as our official charity partner, and we hope that our support will continue to help improve the lives of everyone with epidermolysis bullosa – EB.
“Hopefully everyone will support by dropping into their local participating Mace store on Friday 22 November and having a coffee or tea, thereby contributing to this wonderful charity.”
