Minister of State at the Dept of Agriculture Food & the Marine, Tom Hayes TD, has launched Cashel Blue cheese company’s new product at Hospitality Expo in the RDS. The product aims to encourage greater use of blue cheese in the pub and retail sandwich sector.
“I am really excited about the launch of Cashel Blue cream cheese, which offer consumers a new way of enjoying a unique Irish farmhouse cheese," said the Minister. "Irish farmhouse cheese sales are now worth over €12 million annually, including €4.5 million in exports, and show the ambition and commitment to excellence of local and artisan food producers.”
The product was launched as part of a joint marketing effort by members of the Tipperary Food Producers Network, with businesses attending the Expo including Inch House, Cashel Fine Foods and the Irish Piedmontese Beef Company.
According to Pat Whelan of James Whelan Butchers, chairperson of the network; “Food is our most natural of resources for which we have worldwide recognition, and we the Tipperary Food Producers are determined to build on this reputation and reap the benefit not just for producers of food but for the County as a whole."
