A total of 500 unemployed young people are taking part in career development sessions at Musgrave Group this week as part of ‘Feeding Ireland’s Future’, an initiative aimed at helping young unemployed people get back into work.
A total of 2,000 young people are participating in sessions across a number of retail and FMCG companies as part of the initiative, organised by the Department of Social Protection, Intreo and ECR Ireland.
Commenting on the initiative, Chris Martin, Musgrave Group chief executive, said: “As one of the biggest employers in Ireland, we believe we have a key role in helping young people start their careers. The Irish food industry is world-renowned and we hope to give participants an insight into the opportunities available, as well as the practical experience to help them secure jobs.
“They will all have the opportunity to engage with our colleagues and learn about the many career opportunities and ways of entering the working world. Some will also have the opportunity to engage with some of our SuperValu partners, who will talk about what a career in retail entails and the exciting opportunities within the industry.”
