The Musgrave Triathlon, which took place in Farran Woods, Cork on Saturday 29 August, saw 400 participants take on the challenge to raise money for Breakthrough Cancer Research and Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin.
Now in its 14th year, the Musgrave Triathlon has raised over €3.7 million for Irish charities to date, with this year’s fundraising target set at €200,000.
This year’s event included a 800m swim, followed by a 33km cycle and a 10km run. The triathlon participants were made up, as always, of staff from Musgrave, SuperValu and Centra stores across Ireland and suppliers.
Martin Kelleher, Managing Director, Musgrave Retail Partners Ireland commented, “We are very proud of the real momentum the Musgrave Triathlon continues to generate each year.
He added that, with more and more people taking to sport and paying attention to their health, the triathlon is the ideal way for Musgrave to try to raise much needed funds for worthy causes. “It is great to see so many participants from Musgrave, together with our retail partners in SuperValu and Centra, taking part and raising funds, which makes a considerable contribution to worthy causes that touch every community across Ireland,” he said.
Donations can still be made via www.idonate.ie/MusgraveTriathlon, while SuperValu customers are being encouraged to buy the charity branded trolley key in-store for €2, with net proceeds donated to the fund.
