Entries for the National Grocery Retail Awards 2024 organised by Checkout magazine are officially open until 30 April.
The NGRA is a combination of the awards for fresh food retailing – the Checkout Best in Fresh Awards – and the leading awards for the supplier industry, the National Retail Supplier Awards.
The amalgamation aims to create the largest and most prestigious awards for the industry in Ireland.
Winners of last year’s awards include SuperValu Rathgar, Aldi Ireland, and Keelings.
Categories recognised include the award for Best Retail Group of the Year, Best Off-License, Best Cash & Carry and Best Sustainability Initiative.
The National Grocery Retail Awards honour best in class for retailers and suppliers alike and it hopes to boost the profile of excellent businesses within the sector.
Recognition in the awards aim to boost worker pride at high levels of service, and to promote product excellence.
Judging
Individual stores will have two rounds of judging. The first round will see entrants assessed by an anonymous, independent shopper as they visit the store.
Stores that successfully reach the next round will have a member of the official judging panel conduct a second visit.
Judges will consider the results of both visits in their final decision.
For retail group and supplier categories, a panel of industry experts will be leading the assessments.
The more detailed submission entrants can submit, the better. Entrants should limit the length of submissions to four A4 pages maximum and address the criteria on the official application form.
