The National Lottery regulator has requested a report on the technical issues behind the postponement of last Wednesday's €10 million jackpot draw.
Premier Lotteries Ireland (PLI) made the unprecedented decision to postpone the draw by 24 hours after in-store ticket terminals were knocked out by a telecommunications outage. PLI blamed the outage on its telecoms provider, Telefónica.
In a statement to the Irish Times, Telefónica cited the damage of equipment following extreme weather conditions in the North of Spain as causing the technical problems. PLI has requested a report from the telecom provider as part of its own investigation into the matter.
