Eurospar stores across the country are encouraging children to eat their five-a-day by launching an Irish Disney Fruit Range. The supermarket has partnered with Dublin-based Global Fruit, marking a combined investment of €425,000 in packaging, distribution and promotion.
Willie O’Byrne, Managing Director, BWG Foods, owners and operators of the Eurospar brand in Ireland, said, “We are determined to help our customers make healthier choices for their family by offering innovative products. The Disney fruit packs are designed to be appealing to children but they’re also convenient for parents.”
The current range of Disney fruit includes Mini Easy Peelers, Mini Apples and Mini Pears, sourced from Irish producers where possible. Each pack contains stickers of Mickey Mouse, which children can collect to earn ‘pip points’ that they can exchange for official Disney toys. According to the European Food Information Council, only between 6 - 25% of European children eat the recommended daily allowance of fruit and vegetables.
