Penneys is lowering prices across hundreds of kids essential clothing and accessories as part of its commitment to keep prices low on kidswear.
The move applies to the price points of select summer essentials and aims to help families make their money go further as they plan summer wardrobes.
Cost Of Childcare
Despite inflation slowing, parents have the least confidence in the economy compared to other groups according to the latest Penneys Pulse of the Nation Index.
According to the index, over half of parents (56%) have a lack of confidence in the economy.
The same proportion have cut back on other spending because of the cost of childcare.
The research also indicated that 61% of parents with children of school age have switched for a more affordable clothing retailer to dress their children.
Penneys has maintained its commitment to low prices on the high street by lowering prices on essential items. A t-shirt and swim shorts complete with sliders and a cap is available for €10.50, compared to €14.50 last year.
Baby clothes have also been reduced, with outfits made from selected t-shirts and shorts costing €5.60, down from €8.00 in 2023.
This is Penneys’ second consecutive year in lowering prices across children’s clothing. Last year, it dropped prices across selected ranges for the back-to-school time period.
The discount clothes retailer has remained focused on the children’s clothing market and cost pressures faced by parents over the past few years.
It has remained steadfast in its commitment to keep prices as low as possible for families to alleviate financial pressures where possible.
‘Value Is At The Heart’
Speaking about the move, the head of Penneys Ireland and Northern Ireland Fintan Costello said, “We recognise that parents particularly are really feeling the pinch right now trying to make their finances stretch.
“Summer can be an expensive time for families as the holidays get closer and parents want to make their money go further.
“Value is at the heart of everything we do in Penneys and we want to play our part by offering new lower prices across many products in our kids range to support families.”
The retailer has reduced prices across selected kidswear essentials in the Spring/Summer range by almost 20%.
