Primark has opened its first store in Slovakia, in the Eurovea shopping centre, in Bratislava.
With an investment of over €10 million in the new store and over 200 jobs created locally, the opening marks an important milestone for Primark, as the retailer enters its 16th international market.
Central And Eastern Europe
According to the retailer, the highly anticipated store features everything that customers in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) have come to know and love about Primark, as the brand continues its ambitious growth plans in the region where it already has eight stores: in Poland, Czechia, Slovenia and Romania.
The retailer noted that it has plans to invest further in CEE, with a second store in Romania and two further stores in Poland due to open later this year, while it has announced plans for its first store in Hungary, in the capital of Budapest, which is expected to open next year.
This will bring Primark’s total footprint in CEE to 13 stores across six markets.
Currently, Primark operates a network of 422 stores in 16 countries in Europe and the US.
Store Features
The new Primark Eurovea store spans 39,400 square feet of retail space over two floors, bringing Primark’s unique formula of the latest trends and everyday essentials at great-value prices to customers in Slovakia for the very first time.
Many of the clothing ranges in the new store are part of the retailer’s growing Primark Cares label, which falls under Primark’s pledge to make more sustainable products that everyone can afford.
Already, 50% of Primark’s clothes are made using recycled or more sustainably sourced materials, and the retailer has committed to doubling this figure by 2030.
‘Proud Moment’
Paul Marchant, chief executive at Primark, said, “Today is a proud moment for Primark, as we enter our 16th international market with the opening of Primark Eurovea, in Bratislava, Slovakia.
“Our team has worked hard to achieve this milestone, and we’re not stopping here – we have ambitious growth plans for our business in Central and Eastern Europe, with four more stores planned to open in CEE over the next year.
“This new Bratislava store represents a €10 million investment and has created hundreds of local jobs. We’re excited to showcase our unique Primark offering to customers in Slovakia, bringing something new and exciting to the market.”
The opening of the new store in Bratislava builds on Primark’s global expansion plan, with the aim of reaching 530 stores by the end of 2026.
This financial year, the company has already opened 17 stores and plans to reach 27 stores by September.
