Proposed Applegreen Site Faces Objection From Clare Hotel

The Dromoland Castle Hotel is seeking to block plans for an Applegreen service stop on the Limerick-Ennis motorway.

According to TheIrishExaminer.com, the luxury Co. Clare hotel made its objection to the proposed devleopment to An Bord Pleanála, saying that allowing Applegreen to build a service station so close to a similar Supermac's site could lead to a proliferation in the area.

It also claimed that another site could lead to driver confusion on the M18 route, because of the increased amount of similar road signage.

Applegreen proposed a similar development last year, but was refused planning permission by Clare County Council.

However, after Supermac’s secured permission for its service stop in January just 6km away from the proposed Applegreen site, the forecourt retailer appealed the decision.
