Retail sales by volume were seen to have grown in May by 0.9% compared with April this year according to the Central Statistics Office. There was also an annual increase of 6.2%.
Excluding car sales however, there was a decrease of 0.5% in the volume of sales in retail in May from April, but an overall increase of 3.4% in the annual figure.
When measured for value of retail sales in May they were seen to increase 0.6% compared to the previous month, while there was an annual rise of 4.1% compared with the same month last year.
Excluding car sales in value sales in retail, there was a decrease of 0.3% and an annual increase of 1.4%.
