This month, Sandyford Business District (SBD) hosted a briefing for local TDs and councillors, to highlight business interests in the local area.
The Dublin-based organisation hosted the day on 5 February, to provide a valuable platform for the business district to engage with elected representatives and ensure that local community and business interests are considered in local and national government decisions.
The CEO of SBD, Ger Corbett, welcomed over 20 TDs and councillors representing the Dublin Rathdown Dáil constituency and Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown local-authority area.
The focus of the event were the key priorities for businesses in the district and the local community over the current government term.
Most of this focus was on the Sandyford Urban Framework Plan and future development strategies, plans for a new community centre within the district, public access to the Stillorgan reservoir, and infrastructure improvements, including Junction 14 upgrades and expanded cycle lane networks.
SBD is hosting briefing days with relevant stakeholders in order to build relationships with key decision-makers for the betterment of the area.
These events help build a foundation for ongoing collaboration on projects for the district.
‘Open Dialogue’
Speaking about the event, Corbett said, “We have found this session with our public representatives to be extremely valuable in facilitating an open dialogue between elected representatives and businesses and residents in Sandyford.
“Prior to the event, we reached out to our local businesses in order to better understand the policy challenges that were foremost on their minds, and the feedback was critical to our advocacy on their behalf.
“We look forward to future briefing sessions with local TDs and councillors, as we continue to ensure that local and national policies support a sustainable economic environment in Sandyford and help foster a thriving community.”
