Tesco Ireland has sold some 6,000 copies of the new ’50 Shades of Grey’ book, simply called, 'Grey', in its stores, since it went on sale last month.
In addition, the retailer has also sold 7,000 copies of the ’50 Shades’ movie, in a nationwide promotion that saw standalone displays placed in stores around the country.
‘Grey’, by EL James, went on sale on 18 June.
It’s not the first time that the retailer has launched a ’50 Shades’ promotion; back in February, shoppers could redeem a coupon from the Sunday Independent in Tesco stores to pick up a free copy of ’50 Shades Darker’, the original book’s sequel.
And at the start of the year, Tesco’s F&F clothing range announced the rollout a the official Fifty Shades Lingerie and Sleepwear range, endorsed by the author.
‘Grey’ sold more than 8,000 copies in its first week on sale in Ireland, across all bookstores, outselling the rest of the top ten titles.
