The Small Firms Association has condemned strike the action planned by Luas workers, set to commence tomorrow, the 11th February.
Chairman of the SFA, AJ Noonan has urged the workers to call off tomorrow’s strike, as well as similar industrial action planned for the 12th, 18th and 19th of February.
He said, "Over 90,000 commuters will be left high and dry and there will be a negative impact on shops and businesses around the city as employees try to get to work and customers are disrupted.
"The economic impact will be significant at a time when many small businesses are struggling to remain competitive."
He went on to call the Luas strike "another example of unions holding the country to ransom", and said that calls for pay increases of up to 54% are out of line with what it happening in the economy.
“On behalf of the thousands of small businesses that will suffer as a result of this dispute, I call on SIPTU workers to call off the strike,” Noonan added.
