Spar and Christmas FM are on the hunt again this year for an original Christmas song to become the winner of the Spar Christmas FM Song Contest 2024.
The retailer has announced that it is sponsoring Ireland’s favourite radio station’s – Christmas FM’s – annual song contest, as well as its popular streaming service.
Christmas FM started streaming on 1 November and will continue across all online platforms through to New Year’s Eve.
The Spar Christmas FM Song Contest 2024 is looking for talented songwriters, singers, or music fans who have written a festive melody or recorded a Christmas cover version of a beloved favourite that could help ‘switch Christmas on’ across the nation this year.
The seasonal radio station will broadcast the winning song alongside hits from legends such as Mariah Carey, Michael Bublé and Slade.
‘Bringing The Season To Life’
Speaking about the competition, the co-founder of Christmas FM, Walter Hegarty, said, “Christmas FM is the festive music station that switches Christmas on across Ireland every year, bringing the season to life with all the classics that make celebrating with friends and family all the more special.
“We are delighted to welcome back our Christmas FM Song Contest for 2024, in partnership with Spar.
“This contest offers a fantastic opportunity to support and spotlight the exceptional musical talent we have in Ireland, adding a fresh seasonal hit to our cherished Christmas FM playlist.
“From Elvis to Slade, Mariah Carey to Frank Sinatra, Christmas FM has something for everyone.”
‘A Very Special Time Of Year’
Spar sales director Colin Donnelly added, “We are delighted to be sponsoring Christmas FM’s streaming service and the Spar Christmas FM Song Contest 2024.
“For a lot of people, Christmas starts when Christmas FM starts streaming, and our sponsorship is a celebration of Spar’s love for the annual festive period and our connectedness with the many wonderful communities that our independent retailers serve throughout Ireland.
“As the brand who lives ‘Under the Tree’ all year round, Christmas really is a very special time of year for us, and this sponsorship is also reflective of that.”
