SPAR has announced that it will celebrate Make-A-Wish’s annual Wish Week this year by encouraging its retailers to support the charity’s ‘Light Up Blue’ initiative, which aims to shine a light on children waiting for their wishes to come true.
As Make-A-Wish’s official charity partner, SPAR has decided to embrace the initiative across its wider store network by asking customers and followers to donate in store and on social media.
In support of this initiative, many venues around the country – including the Convention Centre, 3 Arena, Aviva Stadium and the Rock of Cashel – will be ‘turning blue’ on Friday 29 April, which is designated as Wish Day by the charity.
‘Help Raise Critical Funds’
It is hoped that the awareness generated by the campaign will help raise critical funds to allow children living with life-threatening illnesses to experience and enjoy magical moments.
Commenting, Colin Donnelly, sales director of SPAR, said, “We’re extremely proud of our partnership with Make-A-Wish and the wonderful work they do, and we’re delighted to support this very unique initiative, which will undoubtedly raise much-needed awareness and funds up and down the country.”
For those who wish to celebrate Wish Week, Make-A-Wish is encouraging people to wear blue, light up their own homes or offices, or help fundraise for the charity alongside colleagues, friends or family.
Make-A-Wish Ireland has one simple aim: to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions, and to bring hope, strength and happiness.
