Spar has unveiled a new-look store format at its Millennium Walkway outlet in Dublin, which the retailer says will be rolled out to over 100 stores nationwide as part of a €5 million investment.
The redesign seeks to 'strengthen the brand’s multi service offering, by combining traditional convenience retailing with excellence in food service and other essential local services such as bill payments', the company said in a statement.
It incorporates elements such as Spar's 'Tasty Deli' concept, Insomnia Coffee, Subway, Grab and Go, bakery, off licence, and fruit and veg.
“A multi service offering is becoming the new reality of convenience retailing in Ireland and Spar continues to pioneer new formats and offerings which set the benchmark in the industry," said BWG Group CEO, Leo Crawford.
"Combining our own research with that of our global partners in Spar International, we believe we have developed a new store design which is complimentary to the needs and expectations of our customers."
Spar retailer John O’Neill, says that the Millennium Walkway store has seen a 20% uplift in sales since the revamp. The store played host to a launch party on Thursday night, which featured a live performance by Aslan's Christy Dignam, pictured with BWG chief executive Leo Crawford.
