SuperValu Deansgrange Wins Cheese Store Of The Year Award 2016

SuperValu Deansgrange has been named winner of the first SuperValu Cheese Store of the Year Award, picking up the award at the retailer’s recent conference in the Malton Hotel in Killarney, Co. Kerry.

The stores beat off stiff competition from 50 finalists to claim the top award, which is sponsored by the Traditional Cheese Company and recognises commitment to offering shoppers a wide range of traditional and diverse cheeses, as well as superb displays and knowledgeable staff.

As part of the prize, the winners will be sent on a trip to visit the Parma region in Italy to see Parmigiana Reggiano Cheese production sites.

Other winners on the night included Pettit’s SuperValu in St Aidan’s, Co. Wexford, which took the prize for large stores, SuperValu Oranmore in Co. Galway (Medium Store winner) and SuperValu Rathgar in Dublin (Small Store Winner).

SuperValu has confirmed that the competition will run for a second year, and that through the Cheese Store of the Year Award and other initiatives, it plans to extend its cheese collection and counters, aiming to have over 150 stores cutting and selling fresh cheese by the end of 2016.
