SuperValu is adding life assurance and mortgage protection to its insurance offering.
Home and car insurance have been available from the retailer since it teamed up with AIG in 2015, and the latter has since expanded to include van and travel insurance.
The offering has experienced substantial growth in recent years due, in part, to perks and rewards, according to SuperValu’s head of insurance, Garry O’Sullivan.
“The competitiveness of the offer, plus customer perks like SuperValu vouchers and other shopping rewards, have helped deliver significant growth over the last four years,” O’Sullivan said.
It currently has more than 50,000 customers across Ireland.
‘Very Competitive Rates To Customers’
“Through our partnerships with our existing underwriters, we have been able to deliver very competitive rates to customers,” O'Sullivan said.
The retailer, which is part of the Musgrave Group, has partnered with Royal London to underwrite the new offerings.
It will join AXA, which underwrites the car insurance, and Chubb Group, which underwrites the home insurance.
With the help of this expansion, SuperValu hopes to expand to 70,000 insurance customers by next year.
The new insurance products are launching with lifetime discounts of up to 15% for all customers.
Real Rewards members will benefit from additional promotions, including free online shopping delivery vouchers, as well as additional vouchers at Christmas.
All customers of the new insurance products will be offered one month free.
“These new products, provided by the underwriters, Royal London, are a very exciting step for us as we continue to build an exciting insurance portfolio that offers greater choice to Irish consumers,” O’Sullivan said.
