SuperValu has long promoted the importance of natural and local foods, and recently crowned the winning school of its ‘Let’s GROW’ initiative, in collaboration with GIY.
Following the announcement of Nagle-Rice National School, in Killorglin, Co. Kerry, as the winner, SuperValu’s interim managing director, Luke Hanlon, said, “Our recent customer research shows that 88% of Irish adults agree that supermarkets have an important role in teaching children the importance of fresh, seasonal products.”
Prior to announcing the winner, joint research from the retailer and GIY found that 80% of Irish children are consuming fruit and vegetables daily.
It also found that 63% are achieving the recommended daily allowance.
The announcement that the retailer expects to sell one million punnets of raspberries shows the continued importance of healthy, fresh food to Irish shoppers.
