SuperValu’s Store Awards 2025 has seen a number of SuperValu stores around the country honoured at the ceremony, which took place in the Great Southern Hotel, Killarney, Co. Kerry.
SuperValu Malahide, Co. Dublin took home the award for Best Small SuperValu Store of the Year, while Best Medium Store went to Hannon’s SuperValu Rathoath, Co. Meath and Garvey’s SuperValu Listowel in Co. Kerry won Best Large Store.
Garvey’s SuperValu Listowel also took the prestigious title of ‘National SuperValu Store of the Year’ for 2025 in what was a highly competitive final.
Judge Paul Ellison, who is an independent competition judge and retail consultant, highlighted that in a very competitive Irish retail market, SuperValu excels in customer service and leadership.
From this, the award for Garvey’s Listowel acknowledged exceptional standards in key categories such as fresh food offering, food leadership and quality, people management sustainability initiatives and community involvement.
‘Proud’
Speaking about the win, store owner Jim Garvey paid tribute to the store team and the ongoing support of its customers, saying, “I am honoured to receive both awards, which reflects our dedicated team’s hard work and commitment throughout the year.
“This achievement wouldn’t be possible without them.
“At Garvey’s SuperValu Listowel, we prioritise quality, value and exceptional service, alongside sustainability initiatives to create the best shopping experience for our customers.
“I’m delighted our efforts have been recognised.
“A heartfelt thank you to our incredible team, loyal customers, and local community for their unwavering support. We’re proud to bring these awards home to Kerry.”
‘Truly Amazed’
At the ceremony, the managing director of SuperValu Luke Hanlon said, “This competition has been a longstanding tradition for the SuperValu brand, and each year we are truly amazed by the high standards set by the finalists, and this year is no exception.”
On some of the winning stores, Hanlon said, “SuperValu Malahide excelled across the store, enabling the best shopping experience for their customers and earning them the Best Small SuperValu Store Award.
“Hannon’s SuperValu Rathoath’s recognition highlights the team’s dedication to excellence and the high standards in our industry, and I extend my best wishes for their continued success.
“I would like to extend my congratulations to Garvey’s SuperValu Listowel for demonstrating outstanding leadership in quality food, excellent customer service, and support for the local community.
