Tánaiste Launches Third Feeding Ireland's Future Initiative

This year’s Feeding Ireland’s Future initiative has been launched by Tánaiste and Minister for Social Protection, Joan Burton to help provide support for young unemployed people

Now in its third year, ECR Ireland has described the programme as one that has allowed Irish companies to demonstrate collaborative leadership by working together for a common cause.

Feeding Ireland’s Future 2016 is set to feature food and grocery companies, along with others in the food service industry, throughout the country providing free pre-employment skills for those under 24.

Its core activity will be ‘Skills for Work Week’ from February 29 to March 4; in which participants spend time in workshops and at various businesses around Ireland to learn essential skills to help them gain employment in the food industry.

According to the Department of Social Protection, the number of people aged 18 to 25 on the Live Register in December 2015 was 38,726 or 12%, down from the 13.5% in December 2014.
