Tesco Ireland has bought a 0.69 acre site on Navan Road in Cabra, Dublin 7 for €1.7 million. The site, which Tesco bought from the State, was used as an office by the Department of Social Protection until recently.
According to Junior Minister Brian Hayes the sum will be halved among the Exchequer and Office of Public Works, the body that manages State property. The site was deemed surplus to the department’s requirements after the Navan Road Intreo Centre was opened by Minister Joan Burton in February, which saw the amalgamation of three separate offices into one job seeker centre.
Tesco already operates a store in Cabra (pictured), its first zero carbon outlet in Ireland, which opened in 2011.
