Tesco Ireland Introduces Simon The Sloth To Raise Funds For CHF

Tesco Ireland has introduced Simon the Sloth to its stores nationwide, with all proceeds from sales of the teddy going to the retailer’s charity partner, Children’s Health Foundation (CHF).

Simon the Sloth is made from 100% recycled materials and will be available for €5.

Last year, Tesco received a letter from a 12-year-old boy from Greystones, Co. Wicklow, called Oisín, talking about his teddy – Cedric – which his aunt gave him a few years ago.

Oisín explained that Cedric has been one of his most prized possessions ever since, and that he brings Cedric to bed every night to help him feel safe and even sneaks him into school in his schoolbag every day, so he won’t feel alone.

Because of this, he felt inspired and asked Tesco if it could create a sloth named Simon – even sending a drawing of the teddy along with his letter.

This year, Oisín’s dream became a reality, and Simon the Sloth came to life, with Tesco set to sell over 40,000 of these teddies in stores around the country to raise funds for sick children.

New for 2024, Simon the Sloth also has his own Christmas card.

The special card will be available to buy for €2, so that customers can support the care of sick children at CHI Crumlin, Temple Street, Tallaght and Connolly hospitals as they send Christmas wishes this year.

Children’s Health Foundation

CHF and Tesco Ireland support sick children across Ireland.

Since 2014, Tesco Ireland has been a proud supporter of CHF, raising over €10 million for sick children and their families.

CHF has used all the funding raised to buy vital medical equipment to help treat Ireland’s sick children.

Tesco is encouraging customers to be real-life heroes and participate in this effort to raise much-needed funds for Children’s Health Foundation by going to their local Tesco store to buy Simon the Sloth for €5 or the Christmas card for €2.

All proceeds will go to CHF.

Simon the Sloth is available while stocks last.
