Tesco Ireland has today announced that it will run a week-long food appeal calling on the shoppers throughout Ireland to support the nationwide campaign by donating a food product when they shop in-stores between 13 - 19 July.
The donations will then be distributed through FoodCloud to local charities and food banks, the retailer explained.
For the first time in the seven-year history of the Tesco FoodCloud Appeal, it will run for seven days, expanding the opportunity for shoppers to donate as they go about their weekly shopping.
“From our partnership with FoodCloud, we know that the demand for food from local community groups supporting those most in need is on the rise due to the COVID-19 pandemic," said Kari Daniels, chief executive officer, Tesco Ireland.
How It Works
The retailer is calling on customers to add an additional non-perishable item to their basket.
When leaving the shop, the shopper can pop it into the assigned shopping trolley.
"We will be encouraging our customers to support if they can, by donating one item from their shop, to help people in their communities at this time,” she added.
