Tesco Ireland has opened its 171st store in Mountview, Blanchardstown, and has created 33 new jobs in the process.
The new Dublin store measures just over 6,99 square feet. It will offer customers a modern retail experience while highlighting fresh and local produce.
Local suppliers such as Granby’s – known for its sausages – and bread-makers Johnston Mooney & O’Brien will be stocking the shelves.
The store is located on the corner of Mountview Road and Lohunda Downs, covering a highly populated area of Blanchardstown.
The new premises has also been fitted with a number of energy-saving measures, to advance Tesco’s sustainability goals.
These include fridge doors, which have been introduced in a number of supermarkets, to help reduce energy consumption.
‘Actively Engaging With The Community’
The chief operating officer of Tesco Ireland, Geoff Byrne, said at the opening, “We’re thrilled to open the doors on this new superstore in Blanchardstown, West Dublin.
“This store is part of our ongoing investment in new stores in urban centres across the country.
“We have always had such a warm welcome from the communities where we are now based, and we are committed to ensuring that our new stores play a big part in local communities for many years to come.”
The manager at Mountview, Tony Joseph, officially opened the new Tesco store.
Speaking at the opening, Joseph said, “This is a big moment for all the team. We can’t wait to welcome our new customers, and we really look forward to actively engaging with the community.
“We’re especially proud to meet our neighbours in St Philip the Apostle Junior National School, who are participating in our Stronger Starts schools programme.
“We’re looking forward to meeting local groups and projects who need our support through the Community Fund over the coming months,” he concluded.
To date, Tesco’s Community Fund has helped support thousands of organisations across Ireland, including GAA clubs and children’s charities.
The Mountview store’s first campaign will support the local area with donations to three causes.
The local causes are St Philip the Apostle Junior National School, Sports Club 15 Special Olympics, and Foróige Mountview.
