Tesco Ireland Renews Contract With Country Crest In €100m Deal

Tesco Ireland has committed to its future partnership with Country Crest in a contract worth nearly €100 million, the retailer announced last week.

The deal will see the North County Dublin operator continue to supply potatoes, sweet potatoes, and onions to all Tesco stores nationwide and for online shopping.

This development further strengthens the partnership between the retailer and supplier, which began 28 years ago.

Country Crest, the fourth-generation agri-business led by Gabriel and Michael Hoey, will continue to grow and pack all of Tesco’s own-brand fresh potatoes, sweet potatoes, and onions.

The agreement, which lasts until September 2027, will see Tesco source over 27,000 tonnes of fresh produce annually from the supplier.

Country Crest employs more than 100 people at its production site in North County Dublin and sources its produce from farming families across Ireland.

This latest extension will see Country Crest supply over 30,000 tonnes of potatoes, almost 6,000 tonnes of onions, and over 1,000 tonnes of sweet potatoes.

‘Best-Quality Produce’

Reacting to the news, the commercial director at Tesco Ireland, Joe Manning, said, “This latest contract extension is strong evidence of our support for Irish producers and will give confidence to growers nationwide during what is a challenging time for the sector.

“We’ve worked with Gabriel and Michael and the team for 28 years.

“They are well known for their passion for authenticity, innovation, and delivering the best-quality produce for our customers.”
