Tesco Ireland has been awarded eight gold medals at the 2024 Monde Selection Awards, in Brussels this week.
For the first time, the retailer has been awarded two prestigious Grand Gold awards for its Tesco Finest Certified Irish Angus Rib Eye Steak and its Tesco Finest Certified Irish Angus Rib Eye Joint with Black Pepper and Irish Atlantic Sea Salt.
The retailer also took home six gold awards for other Tesco Finest Certified Irish Angus steak products.
These include the Fillet Steak, the Striploin Steak, the Sirloin Steak, the Beef Fillet Barrel with Bordeaux Red Wine and Ruby Port Sauce, the Chateaubriand Beef Joint with Wild Garlic and Herb Butter, and the Irish Carvery Rib.
Monde is a globally renowned competition that tests consumer products from all over the world to grant them an internationally recognised stamp of approval.
The panel of over 80 independent judges consists of Michelin-starred chefs and sommeliers, among other experts and professionals from a variety of disciplines.
Awards are given to products that are outstanding, in terms of quality and taste.
They must pass strict evaluation procedures and stringent standards to come out on top.
The category director of fresh food at Tesco Ireland, John Brennan, welcomed the victory.
Brennan said, “We are especially delighted this year to have won two Grand Gold awards.
“The Grand Gold Quality Award that is sparingly bestowed by the Monde judges is only issued to those products that obtain an average result of between 90 and 100%, meaning an undisputable guarantee of quality to the consumer.”
