Tesco Ireland has recently opened the doors to a brand-new Tesco Express store at Spencer Dock, Dublin 1.
The new store will create 22 new jobs, with half of the newly recruited staff members from the local Sheriff Street area.
Tesco Express Spencer Dock will be managed by Lar Mooney, an experienced store manager who previously managed the Tesco Express store on Baggot Street Lower, Dublin 2.
Commenting on the new store, Mooney, said, “I’m delighted to lead this team of over 20 colleagues as we officially open Spencer Dock.
“They’ve been working hard behind the scenes to get the store ready for opening, and they’re really excited to welcome customers to our new store, and to giving back to our community.”
Sustainability Strategy
In line with Tesco’s sustainability strategy, the store features the latest in technology, to continue the retailer’s ambition of achieving net zero in its own operations by 2035.
The store has been designed to reflect carbon efficiencies, the retailer added.
It will also receive a high energy rating due to the inclusion of CO2 refrigeration with doors, LED lighting, and heat recovery – and from being powered by renewable energy.
According to Tesco, the 22 new roles have been recruited via internal and external drives, bringing the retailer’s employment in Dublin to almost 4,000 colleagues, with over 13,000 employed nationally.
Tesco has been operating in the Irish retail market since 1997 and now runs 153 stores nationwide.
