Tesco has opened its newest outlet, at Park Pointe in Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin, with the store officially opened this morning by An Ta?naiste, Eamon Gilmore TD.
The new store, which will employ 82 people, is Tesco's 146th store in Ireland.
It is the first store to feature a new 'market-style' layout in its fresh department, which the retailer hopes to roll out to other stores in due course.
“The Park Pointe store has a different look and feel to our other stores through its increased focus on fresh local produce and ‘market’ style layout," said Tesco Ireland CEO, Phil J Clarke. "Our aim is to demonstrate our passion for food and to make the shopping experience more engaging and enjoyable."
Commenting on the new opening, which will create 65 new jobs, An Ta?naiste said: “I am pleased to see Tesco make such a strong job investment in the Dun Laoghaire community. Tesco is an excellent employer, and with more than half of new staff in Park Pointe coming from the live register they have set an impressive example for other companies to follow."
