All Tesco stores will remain open, as the strike action continues at eight stores today. Trade across all stores was strong yesterday including those subject to strike action, according to a statement issued by Tesco today (15th February.)
According to a Tesco spokesperson, “We sincerely thank our colleagues and customers for their outstanding support through this unnecessary dispute. We apologise to any customers and colleagues who may have been inconvenienced by the strike in a handful of our stores.”
Reportedly, Tesco has called on Mandate to abandon its plans for strike action and to accept the recommendations of the Labour Court, made last March.
The spokesperson added, "Mandate’s action is a retrograde step for the industrial relations processes of the State which it undermines. The Labour Court Recommendation is the only solution to this dispute. We would like to assure everyone that we have done everything we can to resolve this issue fairly for all involved."
