Tesco will open a new store in Ballincollig, Cork this Friday, October 24 and create 104 jobs for the area. Olympic athlete Derval O’Rourke will officially open the store, with live jazz music to get shoppers in the mood for the local Jazz Festival.
O’Rourke will also lead a ‘tread-milling for Temple Street’ fund-raising event which will include her running on an in-store treadmill to support Temple Street, Tesco Ireland’s new charity of the year.
In addition, as part of the new Tesco Community Fund, three local charities, Ballincollig Gymnastics Club, Ballincollig Vintage Club and Ballincollig Tidy Towns, will also be in attendance on the day having been nominated locally.
