The first of this year’s Christmas poinsettias are set to arrive in Tesco stores this week, supplied by Swords-based grower Uniplumo.
From this coming Thursday (November 12), Tesco will stock Uniplumo’s Bord Bia quality assured Irish-grown poinsettias, including in limited edition white and pink colours, as well a range of festive floral baskets and Irish wreaths.
Tom Summerville, General Manager Uniplumo commented; “Our supplier partnership with Tesco has strengthened over the past 18 years with increased orders this year, particularly for our festive range of Bord Bia quality assured Irish grown poinsettias to nearly 120,000 plants.
“The festive plant and flower range also includes luxury Irish wreaths and planted gifts across a range of designs exclusive to Tesco.”
A popular Christmas plant, the poinsettia is native to Central America and is known to reach heights of 12 feet tall in its natural habitat.
Irish households are advised to keep them away from drafts and heat sources like radiators and fireplaces, and to let their soil dry between watering, to ensure they last well into the New Year.
