Seasonally adjusted, there was a decrease of 0.1% in the volume of retail sales in the month of November, according to the latest figures from the Central Statistics Office.
In year-on-year terms, there was a 3.6% increase in the volume of retail sales.
Excluding Motor Trades, the volume of retail sales increased by 0.2% seasonally, but annually adjusted volume sales only rose by 1.9%.
Food, Beverages, and Tobacco was among the sectors with the largest monthly decline, falling by 5.6%.
Value Sales
There was no change in the value of retail sales in November 2018 when compared with October 2018, but this figure increased on a year-to-year basis by 2.7%.
Excluding Motor Trades, there was still no change in the value of retail sales in the month, but increased by 0.4% in the annual figure.
Food, Beverages & Tobacco
The value of retail sales in Food, Beverages, and Tobacco fell by 2.3% for the month, and fell again by 3% for the year.
From the period of September to November 2018, Food, Beverages and Tobacco sales rose by 2.6% in value terms against the previous three months, and rose by 2.3% against the 2017 period.
The volume of sales for the period also rose by 1.9% against the previous three months, and jumped by 4.7% in volume against the same period in 2017.
