There will be a 1% surcharge introduced for diesel vehicles across all VRT (Vehicle Registration Tax) bands it was announced today in Budget 2019.
"I will be introducing a new accelerated capital allowances scheme for gas-propelled vehicles and refuelling equipment," Paschal Donohoe, TD, Minister for Finance and Public Expenditure and Reform, said in his budget delivery.
"This is designed to encourage the uptake of gas-propelled commercial vehicles as an economic and environmentally friendly alternative to diesel."
Minister Donohoe also said that VRT relief will be extended for hybrid vehicles until 2019.
