UK Grocery Inflation Decreases Ahead Of Election – Kantar

UK grocery inflation fell for a sixteenth month in a row in June, data from market researcher Kantar showed on Tuesday.

Grocery inflation in the UK fell for the 15th month in a row in May to reach 2.4% – its lowest level since October 2021, according to Kantar.

Asda has reported that its underlying sales rose 1.4% in the first quarter, marking a slowdown from a growth of 2.2% in the previous quarter.

The UK’s third largest supermarket group Asda has refinanced over £3.2 billion of debt, pushing most of its maturities into the next decade.

Online retailer Ocado, discounter Lidl and supermarket Marks & Spencer were the UK’s fastest-growing grocers in the Q1.

Sainsburys has forecast up to 10% growth in retail operating profit in its new financial year as it continues to win customers from rivals.

Grocery inflation in the UK fell in March for the 14th consecutive month, according to data from Kantar released today.

Asda reported a 24% rise in annual earnings that reflect a 7.1% rise in total sales from 2023, and added that it had cut its debt.
