Dunnes Stores And Tesco Hold Top Spots As Inflation Edges Up – Kantar

Grocery inflation has increased slightly for the first time in 15 months as Dunnes Stores and Tesco lead the market, Kantar reported today.

UK grocery inflation has fallen this month to its lowest level since September 2021, data from market researcher Kantar showed on Tuesday.

Prices in UK shops rose at their slowest pace in two and a half years this month according to the British Retail Consortium.

Dunnes Stores holds the market lead and Tesco claims strongest trip frequency as grocery inflation falls, according to Kantar.

Grocery inflation in the UK fell for the 15th month in a row in May to reach 2.4% – its lowest level since October 2021, according to Kantar.

UK shoppers spent a total of £50.2 billion on FMCG products in the first quarter of 2024, according to data published by NIQ last week.

Online retailer Ocado, discounter Lidl and supermarket Marks & Spencer were the UK’s fastest-growing grocers in the Q1.

Grocery inflation in Ireland has fallen to 2.9% in the 12 weeks to 14 April 2024, according to up-to-date data from Kantar.
