Deliveroo has launched a new in-app function to enable customers to donate to the Health Service Executive (HSE).
The online food delivery company explained that when customers order their food for delivery on Deliveroo, at ‘checkout’ they will be able to add a donation to the value of their bill and Deliveroo will donate all money raised to the HSE directly.
“Our customers are hugely appreciative and supportive of heroic healthcare workers’ huge efforts to keep us all safe," a spokesperson for the company said.
"Nurses, doctors and paramedics, together with the wider healthcare team, are all part of the frontline workforce, working tirelessly every day and risking their lives for others."
Candle Image
The company highlighted that the ‘Support the HSE’ app feature will use the image of a candle, which has become synonymous with support for healthcare workers across Ireland.
'This is the first in-app fundraising campaign Deliveroo has ever launched in Ireland and similar campaigns are being launched in the UK and Australia this week,' it added.
Deliveroo launched in Ireland in 2015, and currently works with more than 1,000 self-employed riders and more than 1,300 food outlets across Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Galway.
