Food safety technology firm Kelsius has signed a deal, potentially worth €2 million per year, which will see its FoodCheck system installed into SuperValu and Centra stores nationwide.
FoodCheck is described as ‘a cloud-based food safety monitoring system’, and will replace the current paper-based monitoring and record keeping systems.
Shops will be able to systematically carry out checks on the temperatures at which food is being stored, and the system will alert managers and supervisors if there is any deviation from food safety standards via text message. The system helps ensure that industry standard HACCP processes are fully followed, and that nothing is left to chance in the area of food safety.
Eamonn Quinn, Executive Chairman of Kelsius, commented on the contract, “Food safety is the most important issue for any company operating in food retail, as the reputation of a brand can be irreparably damaged through just one major incident. Our cloud based technology enables food retailers replace existing onerous paper based check systems and save time and money whilst implementing the very best solution for food chain management."
Ray Bowe, Head of Food Safety and Quality for SuperValu and Centra said, “This new-to-market Kelsius’ FoodCheck system ensures excellence in food safety monitoring and we are delighted to be able to offer this to our retail partners.
“This innovative system helps us continue to offer the highest standards of food safety and quality to our shoppers that they have come to expect.”
