The British online supermarket and technology group Ocado has named Adam Warby as its chair, succeeding Richard Haythornthwaite.
Ocado made the announcement on Thursday that Warby will take on the role from 1 December.
Warby is a veteran of the technology sector.
He is currently chair of NASDAQ-listed advisory group Heidrick & Struggles International and was previously chair of Swiss software firm SoftwareOne Holding.
He has also worked for Microsoft and IBM.
Ocado said Warby would join as a non-executive director on 1 November.
Shares in the group have lost almost half their value this year.
However, in July, Ocado did raise its margin guidance for its 2023/24 year.
Chief executive and co-founder of Ocado Tim Steiner said Warby was joining at an important moment in the group’s development with its technology, now live with 11 of its 13 partners globally.
In February, the online retailer forecast growth and chief executive officer Stephen Daintith said the loss-making group expects to make a pre-tax profit in the next six years.
Ocado has seen consistent growth since, growing by 15.9% in October, according to NIQ.
It has been leading growth in UK supermarket groups.
