Brian Gaunt has been appointed as the new Head of Supply Chain & Logistics at Dunnes Stores, following the departure of former Supply Chain Director John Casey back in May of this year.
Gaunt has a strong retail pedigree, having worked at Asda under Allan Leighton and Archie Norman at Asda in the 1990s, and holding the role of European Supply Chain Director at the UK chain for six years.
More recently, he held the position of UK Managing Director Retail for logistics business Christian Salvensen PLC, which was acquired by Norbert Dentressangle in 2008, and was Chief Executive of Home Delivery Network Ltd, the largest independent parcel business in the UK, with revenues of over £300 million.
While his salary in his new role is unknown, it is believed to be in excess of €150,000 per annum.
John Casey left Dunnes Stores in May, after just over a year in the job, having joined from DCC-owned Allied Foods in 2011. Gaunt's history at Asda is also notable; former head buyer Sheena Forde, who also left the company this year, also previously held a senior position with the Walmart-owned retailer.
