International Plans On Course For M&S

Like-for-like food revenue at Marks & Spencer rose 1.1% in H1, according to the retailer’s half-year results, with total group sales up 0.9% to £4.7 billion.

While recent trading at the group has been “volatile”, and several international markets (notably Ireland and Greece) are being “impacted by macroeconomic pressures”, Marc Bolland, M&S chief executive remained confident that the retailer is “making strong progress with our plan to transform M&S into an international multi-channel retailer.”

Last month, it announced that it will launch localised online stores for customers in Spain, Germany, Austria and Belgium later this month. The launch follows the successful rollout of French and Irish online platforms earlier this year.
