In a bid to increase its footprint in neighbouring Spain, French retailer E.Leclerc has launched a price comparison website in Madrid.
The site, buscaelmasbarato.com (which literally translates as ‘looking for the cheapest’), compares prices from retailers including Carrefour, Ahorra Mas, Hipercor, Maxi Dia and Mercadona.
Leclerc entered the Spanish market in May 2011, with the purchase of seven hypermarkets from Eroski; it has since opened a further seven stores in the country.
